I wondered a lot about how therapy worked. There's some system or process going on in the therapist's head, right? Well, these curiosities intrigued me enough to spend a lot of years learning about it and putting it into practice!
Yes, therapy is a science and there are principles and techniques that allow it to be tested and refined. But therapy is also an art. You can do everything "right," but if there is no connection or authenticity, you're not going to see the results you want. I love this challenge—balancing art and science.
Having some impact. Leaving the world a better place than I found it. Helping. These are some of the motivations that led me to becoming a psychologist, and I feel lucky to be in a field of work that is intrinsically meaningful.
